When working with an independent recruiting firm you should identify one that specializes in your specific profession. Furthermore, the recruiting firm should employ recruiters from your profession. For example, if you are looking to hire an accounting professional, you should work with a firm who specializes in recruiting accountants. Recruiters should also be CPAs who have worked in the industry. In addition, these recruiters should have experience hiring accounting staff of their own. With an experienced firm, you mitigate the issues of recruiters not properly screening candidates for a role. In the end, their time is better spent understanding the technical needs and additional softer skills required to be successful in any given role or within the company. A specialized recruiter who has been in a specific profession can save you time and money when recruiting.
