How to Make Your Company a Talent Magnet, Even in Tough Markets

In this article by Fast Company, the author discusses how employment branding and peaking company interest with online content helps you find top talent.

We agree with all of the points made in this article. Specifically, that the best candidates do not search for jobs online. Rather the most sought after talent is passively looking and generally do not have time to search for jobs online.

In addition, you must present the right image and message of who you are as a company and who you are trying to connect with in the market place. Using content in the media to spread the message is more effective than simply saying, “we are hiring.”

We would add one additional point when searching for top talent — include proactive networking by all key managers in your hiring plan. Networking and recruiting for top talent should be done on an on-going basis rather than based solely on need. The best companies are always hiring if they find the right talent to add, upgrade or replace their team. As a general rule, the most successful companies are winning the war for top talent.
